HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut federal judge has held oral arguments on Excalibur Reinsurance Corp.’s requests for discovery from Travelers Insurance Co. (NYSE:TRV) in a reinsurance contract dispute, explaining that a conflict exists as to what is at the heart of the dispute.
Answering this question may determine whether Excalibur seeks irrelevant information not subject to discovery, or rather discoverable information lying at the heart of the case, Senior Judge Charles S. Haight Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut explained in the Feb. 13 scheduling order. Oral arguments were held Feb. 26.
