Aon Urges Court to Stay Repwest’s Claims Pending Outcome of Arbitration

PHOENIX — Reinsurance broker Aon Benfield Inc. (NYSE:AON) is urging an Arizona federal judge to stay claims filed against it by Repwest Insurance Co. pending the outcome of a related arbitration between Repwest and Praetorian Insurance Co.

In a Dec. 24 brief filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, Aon asserted that although the parties have “competing rationales as to why a stay is proper,” the court need not decide between these rationales. Rather, it should simply stay this matter until the arbitration is resolved, the broker maintains.
