HARTFORD, Conn. – Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. (NYSE: TRV) has sued Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. and Century Indemnity Co. for a total of $2.2 million in reinsurance coverage for its settlement of asbestos claims asserted against E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co.
In a Jan. 9 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Travelers asserts that both reinsurers are obligated to follow its settlement decisions.
According to the complaint, Travelers issued two excess indemnity umbrella policies to DuPont that were in effect from 1967 to 1970 and 1970 to 1971, respectively. …
