Century Disclaims Liability to Northern Assurance for PG&E Investigative Costs

BOSTON — Century Indemnity Co. has refuted allegations that it is obligated to reimburse Northern Assurance Company of America for costs incurred in investigating underlying environmental claims brought against Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (NYSE: PCG).
In its Nov. 26 answer, Century denies Northern’s assertion that it breached a facultative certificate covering the PG&E policy.
According to a Sept. 21 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Century owes 233,631 under the certificate.
