CHICAGO — American Medical Life and Insurance Co. has moved for partial summary judgment in a dispute with Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Co., seeking a ruling that GTL is bound under an alleged reinsurance treaty covering AMLI’s limited medical insurance policies.
In an Oct. 12 filing, AML asserts that although GTL never signed the treaty, it acted as though it were bound by the treaty and it did nothing to indicate an intent to disavow the treaty. AML also seeks a ruling that it may set off sums it owes to GTL under a separate reinsurance treaty.
