Mass. Judge Refuses to Bar Sidley Austin from Representing Liberty Mutual in Arbitration

BOSTON - A Massachusetts state judge has refused to enjoin Sidley Austin from representing Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. against Certain Underwriters of Lloyd's, London and Equitas Insurance Ltd. in a reinsurance arbitration, ruling that the agent for Underwriters/Equitas agreed to such representation and waived any conflict that might result. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's, London, et al. v. Sidley Austin LLP, et al., No. 10-4663 (Mass. Super. Ct., Suffolk Cty.).

Judge Christine M. Roach of the Suffolk County (Mass.) Superior Court ruled that the law firm obtained informed consent for a waiver from Resolute Management Inc. - New England Division.
