PHILADELPHIA - Appalachian Insurance Co. and Century Insurance Co. have settled a $2 reinsurance dispute involving the underlying settlement of asbestos claims brought against Union Carbide Corp. Appalachian Insurance Co. v. Century Insurance Co., f/k/a Insurance Company of North America, No. 10-7614 (E.D. Pa.).

Judge Ronald L. Buckwalter of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed the action after the parties filed a stipulation of voluntary dismissal with prejudice.

According to Appalachian's December 2010 complaint, Century's successor, Insurance Company of North America, issued a facultative certificate to Appalachian, effective April 1, 1972 to April 1, 1975, …
