OneBeacon Sues Munich Re for $1.6 Million

BOSTON - OneBeacon America Insurance Co. has sued Munich Reinsurance America Inc., demanding more than $1.6 million in reinsurance coverage for an underlying settlement of pollution claims brought against Viacom's predecessors. OneBeacon America Insurance Co. v. Munich Reinsurance America Inc., No. 1:11-cv-12313 (D. Mass.).

The complaint, filed Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, accuses Munich Re of wrongfully refusing to pay the reinsurance billings.

According to the complaint, OneBeacon's predecessor, Employers' Liability Assurance Corp., issued three primary policies and one excess policy to New Jersey Zinc Co., a zinc processor, which were in effect …
