New York Federal Judge Confirms RDR Arbitration Award

NEW YORK - Century Indemnity Co. has asked a New York federal judge to confirm arbitration awards in a dispute with certain London Market reinsurers involving reinsurance documentation requirements. Century Indemnity Co. v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London, et al., No. 11-1503 (S.D. N.Y.).

In confirming the award, Judge John G. Koeltl of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York agreed with Century that the reinsurers' cross-petition to confirm was improper and that the parties should "conduct their own public relations campaign outside the court."
