Everest Seeks Appointment of Umpire to Oversee Arbitration With Century

TRENTON, N.J. - Everest Reinsurance Co. has asked a New Jersey federal court to appoint an umpire to oversee a dispute involving reinsurance coverage for underlying asbestos claims. _Everest Reinsurance Co. v. Century Indemnity Co., et al., _No. 11-2789 (D. N.J.).
In a May 13 petition filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Everest asserts that the umpire candidates named by Century Indemnity Co. are not neutral or impartial given their "significant prior experience" as umpires involving Century and its affiliates.
