ACE Sues Global for More Than $100,000

PHILADELPHIA - ACE Property & Casualty Insurance Co. has sued Global Reinsurance Corporation of America for more than $100,000 in reinsurance for underlying asbestos injury claims. ACE Property & Casualty Insurance Co. v. Global Reinsurance Corporation of America, No. 11-2838 (E.D. Pa.).

The complaint, originally filed in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, was removed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Pennsylvania on April 27.

For the period Dec. 31, 1976, to Aug. 1, 1978, ACE's predecessor, Central National Insurance Company of Omaha (CNIC), allegedly entered into a facultative treaty with Global's predecessor, Constitution Reinsurance Corp. …
