Travelers Sues Three Reinsurers for $5.1 Million

CINCINNATI - Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. is demanding payment of $5.1 million in reinsurance proceeds from three reinsurers for the 2007 settlement of asbestos claims brought against Armstrong Contracting and Supply Co. Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. v. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., et al., No. 3:11-107 (D. Conn.).
The Jan. 19 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, says Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., National Casualty Co. and Employers Insurance Company of Wausau breached the terms of a series of reinsurance certificates by refusing to pay their share of the settlement.
