CINCINNATI - Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. is demanding payment of $1.6 million in reinsurance proceeds from two reinsurers for underlying asbestos claims brought against Armstrong Cork Co. and Armstrong Contracting and Supply Co. Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. v. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., et al., No. 2:11-63 (S.D. Ohio).
The Jan. 19 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, says Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. and National Casualty Co. breached the terms of a series of reinsurance certificates by refusing to pay their share of the asbestos claims.
