NEW YORK - A federal judge has refused to dismiss conversion and tortious interference claims brought against Lockton Re by Guy Carpenter & Co. in a dispute over $1.852 million in reinsurance brokerage. Guy Carpenter & Company LLC v. Lockton Re LP, No. 10-4932 (S.D. N.Y.).
On Nov. 4, Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that the claims should proceed because the complaint sufficiently specifies a specific fund of money and because the broker contract at issue was for a fixed duration.
