MINNEAPOLIS - A grocery store chain must reimburse Swiss Reinsurance America Corp. $106,617 for sums paid by the reinsurer to resolve underlying litigation against the chain's affiliate, a Minnesota federal magistrate judge has ruled. Swiss Reinsurance America Corp. v. SuperValu Inc., No. 09-3083 (D. Minn.).
On Oct. 14, Magistrate Judge Jeffrey J. Keyes of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota ruled that SuperValu Inc.'s liability to Swiss Re was not extinguished by the insolvency of Swiss Re's cedent.
