Judge Confirms $3.3 Million Award to Church Insurance Co.

NEW YORK - A federal judge has confirmed a $3.3 million reinsurance arbitration award rendered in favor of The Church Insurance Co. after finding no basis for vacatur. The Church Insurance Co. v. Ace Property & Casualty Insurance Co., No. 10-698 (S.D. N.Y.).

Judge Richard J. Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York also denied ACE Property & Casualty Insurance Co.'s motion to seal Church's petition to confirm and supporting memorandum, ruling that the filings are "judicial documents" to which the "presumption of access" is attached.
