TIG Files $2 Million Suit Against Arrowood

CONCORD, N.H. - TIG Insurance Co. is seeking more than $2 million in reinsurance proceeds from Arrowood Indemnity Co. for an underlying settlement involving a California landfill. TIG Insurance Co. v. Arrowood Indemnity Co., No. 10-00465 (D. N.H.).
The complaint, filed Oct. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, accuses Arrowood of breaching its obligations under a facultative reinsurance contract.
According to the suit, TIG's predecessor, U.S. Fire Insurance Co., issued a policy to Southdown Inc., effective Dec. 1, 1982, to Dec. 31, 1986. The policy provided coverage limits of $30 million for each occurrence …
