WASHINGTON, D.C. - A reinsurer is asking a federal judge to enjoin the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery from representing Allianz Underwriters Insurance Co. in a reinsurance arbitration, arguing that it would result in a conflict of interest. Employers Insurance Company of Wausau v. Allianz Underwriters Insurance Co., No. 1:10-01297 (D. D.C.).
In a complaint filed July 29 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Employers Insurance Company of Wausau argued that McDermott's past representation of the reinsurer in various collection disputes renders its representation of Allianz a violation of professional rules of conduct.
