HARTFORD, Conn. - Connecticut's highest court has upheld confirmation of a $21.9 million arbitration award, ruling that the trial court's decision to remand the award to the arbitrators for clarification did not contravene Hall Street. Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. v. Underwriters at Lloyd's and Companies Collective, et al., No. AC 30162 (Conn. Sup.).
The Connecticut Supreme Court further ruled that the umpire's ex parte communications with the defendants did not require vacatur of the award because the communications took place after the award was issued.
