Centaur Rehabilitator Sues Munich Re, R&Q for Settlement Coverage

CHICAGO - The rehabilitator of Centaur Insurance Co. is suing Munich Reinsurance America Inc. and R&Q Reinsurance Co. in Illinois federal court, demanding reinsurance proceeds for underlying asbestos claims brought against J.T. Thorpe Co. McRaith v. Munich Reinsurance America Inc., et al., No. 09-04027 (N.D. Ill.).

The rehabilitator, Illinois Insurance Director Michael T. McRaith, asserts that the claims are covered under facultative reinsurance certificates issued by the defendants' predecessors in the mid-1980s. The action, originally filed in the Cook County (Ill.)
