SAN DIEGO - A California federal judge has granted Ramona Tire Inc. summary judgment on claims that it underfunded its captive insurer in an effort to defraud Frontier Insurance Co. through a workers' compensation reinsurance agreement. Frontier Insurance Company in Rehabilitation v. Ramona Tire Inc., No. RIC459479 (S.D. Calif).
U.S. District Judge Michael M. Anello ruled May 22 that the claims filed by Frontier's rehabilitator are time-barred under California's applicable statute of limitations.
