Federal Judge Sends $1.9 Million Dispute to Arbitration

NEW YORK - A $1.9 million dispute between Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London and reinsurance broker B.D. Cooke & Partners Inc. should be arbitrated because the dispute falls squarely within the parties' arbitration agreement, a New York federal judge has ruled. B.D. Cooke & Partners Ltd. v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London, No. 1:08-cv-03435 (S.D. N.Y.).

In a March 26 opinion, Judge Richard J. Holwell of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted Lloyd's motion to stay the action pending arbitration.
