NEWARK, N.J. -- Parties involved in a New Jersey benzene case exchanged master product identification questionnaire proposals shortly after a judge denied a defense request to transfer the proceedings to a nearby county, sources told HarrisMartin. Zak, et al. v. Bix Manufacturing, et al., No. ESX-L-5246-07 (N.J. Super. Ct., Essex Cty.).
In January, Judge Patricia K. Costello of the New Jersey Superior Court for Essex County denied a defense motion to transfer venue, rejecting the contention that since the alleged benzene exposure did not occur in Essex County, venue was improper.
