New Benzene Complaint Filed in Oregon State Court

PORTLAND, Ore. -- An Oregon couple has filed a benzene lawsuit in state court, contending that exposure to benzene-containing products in both an occupational and non-occupational capacity cause one of the plaintiffs to develop acute myelogenous leukemia. Hammer v. Varn Products Co., et al., No. 0709-10019 (Ore. Cir. Ct., Multnomah Cty.).

The complaint was filed in the Oregon Circuit Court for Multnomah County on Sept. 4, sources told HarrisMartin.

Plaintiffs Robert and Patricia Hammer contend that Robert was exposed to benzene both occupationally and non-occupationally. Robert Hammer was diagnosed with AML on Sept. 13, 2004, according to the complaint.
