Texas Judge Says Discovery Can't Begin Until Plaintiffs Identify Products

ANGLETON, Texas -- A Texas judge overseeing two trace benzene cases is requiring plaintiffs to identify the products to which they were allegedly exposed and the time and location of the alleged exposure before they can begin discovery of any defendant. Suceda, et al. v. Union Carbide Corp., et al., No. 38802; Lockhart, et al. v. Shaw Industries, et al., No. 38582 (Texas 239th Jud. Dist. Ct., Brazoria Cty.).

Judge Pat Sebesta entered the orders in the Suceda and Lockhart lawsuits on Feb. 27 in the 239th Judicial District Court for Brazoria County.
