Citgo Indicted on Charges Relating to Benzene Emissions

WASHINGTON - Citgo Petroleum Corp. was indicted Aug. 9 on 10 counts of criminal violations relating to benzene emissions from its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery, the U.S. Justice Department said.
Two of the counts allege that the refinery violated the National Emission Standard for Benzene Waste Operations. Citgo is required to control benzene levels in waste water in accordance with the Clean Air Act.
