New Complaints Emerge in Wake of $13.3 Million Benzene Verdict

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two new benzene complaints have been filed by residents of the same Missouri community as another benzene plaintiff who was recently awarded $13.3 in compensatory damages based on his allegations that a neighboring oil refinery had contaminated groundwater with benzene. Argo v. BP Corp.; May, et al. v. BP Corp., Nos. n/a (Mo. Cir. Ct., Jackson Cty.).

In September, a Sugar Creek, Mo., benzene lawsuit ended in a confidential settlement shortly after a jury awarded $13.3 in compensatory damages to a plaintiff who developed myelodysplastic syndrome after exposure to benzene. Among the jury's findings were that …
