Judge Transfers Benzene Lawsuit Involving Cosmetics Industry

OAKLAND, Calif. -- A state court judge has granted a motion to change venue in a benzene case involving the cosmetics industry. Hopkins, et al. v. Alberto-Culver USA Inc., et al., No. RG05194245 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).

In an April 27 order, Judge Ronald M. Sabraw of the California Superior Court of Alameda County transferred the claims to the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Plaintiff Roxie Lynn Hopkins alleges that her work as a cosmetologist exposed her to more than 500 harmful products, including those containing benzene.
