International Paper Co. Files Complaint for Recovery of Costs Related to Superfund Site Cleanup

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –– International Paper Co. has filed a complaint in Michigan federal court seeking the recovery of costs related to the response and cleanup of a Superfund site, contending that its co-defendants in a related action are liable to the company for the costs incurred.

In the Nov. 1 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the company said it has paid and is obligated to pay costs that exceed International Paper’s equitable share, if any, of such costs.
