Calif. Jury Awards Plaintiff $289 Million at Conclusion of 1st Roundup Injury Trial

SAN FRANCISCO –– A California jury has awarded $289 million to a plaintiff at the conclusion of the first Roundup personal jury trial, accepting the plaintiff’s claims that his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was caused by using the herbicide containing glyphosate.
The California Superior Court for San Francisco County jury reached its verdict on Aug. 10.
DeWayne Johnson filed his complaint in Jan. 2016, contending that during the course of his employment with the Benicia Unified School District, he applied Roundup and RangerPro, Monsanto glyphosate products, to school properties.
