Piano Refurbisher Files Benzene Complaint, Says Exposure to Products Caused CLL

CHICAGO –– A former piano refurbisher has filed a benzene complaint in Illinois federal court, contending that he used benzene-containing products in the process of tuning and refurbishing pianos.
Plaintiffs Joseph and Carole Kupiszewski asserted the claims on Sept. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, contending that the defendant’s benzene-containing products caused Joseph Kupiszewski to develop chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
In the complaint, the plaintiffs said that Joseph Kupiszewski was self-employed, working at tuning and refurbishing pianos. As a result of his work, the plaintiff used benzene, strippers, lacquers and other products, the plaintiffs …
