U.S. House of Representatives Passes Camp Lejeune Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives has approved legislation that would provide healthcare for veterans alleging exposure to a variety of contaminants –– including benzene –– at Camp Lejeune’s marine base in North Carolina. Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012, H.R. 1627 (U.S. House of Representatives).

The U.S. Senate passed the bill, with amendments, on July 18. The House of Representatives agreed to the amendments by a voice vote on July 31. The final version is expected to appear before President Barack Obama later this month, according to published reports.
