JACKSON, Miss. –– A Mississippi appellate court has rejected the chance to revisit an earlier order in which it affirmed a $1.7 million silica verdict against Mississippi Valley Silica Co. and rejected the defendant’s position that the plaintiff did not have standing to bring the claims and that she failed to establish that the decedent was exposed to the company’s silica and sand.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals denied the motion for rehearing on Feb. 21.
