Plaintiffs Reach Settlement with Last Remaining Defendant in Louisiana Benzene Case

NEW ORLEANS –– Plaintiffs with benzene-related claims pending in a Louisiana federal court have reached a settlement agreement with the last remaining defendants and, as such, all claims in the matter have been dismissed, according to a recent court order.

In the Oct. 25 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana noted that the plaintiffs recently reached a settlement agreement with Chevron USA Inc., the lone remaining defendant in the case.

The plaintiff had previously reached settlement agreements with Shell Oil Co., Shell Chemical LP, Dow Chemical Co., and third-party defendant Turner Industries Group LLC.
