CINCINNATI –– An amicus brief has been filed in the pending appeal of a $1.6 million verdict entered in favor of a plaintiff who contended that she developed kidney cancer as a result of exposure to C-8 in her drinking water.
In a June 20 brief filed in the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, American Tort Reform Association, and American Chemistry Council said that if the verdict is allowed to stand, it “threatens to deter business defendants from relying on a mutually beneficial and efficient alternative model for resolving general causation …
