Plaintiffs Rest in California Benzene Trial; Court Denies Defense Motions for Non-Suit on Fraud, Punitive Damages

LOS ANGELES –– The plaintiffs have rested their case in an ongoing benzene trial, sources confirmed to HarrisMartin, and the trial court overseeing the trial has denied defense efforts to obtain a non-suit order on fraud and punitive damages.
Judge Cary H. Nishimoto of the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County is overseeing the trial, which began on May 11 with jury selection.
William Lawrence Lopez asserted the claims, contending that his work as a printer for more than 40 years exposed him to inks and pressroom chemicals, including those that contained benzene.
