Pharmacia Removes Another PCBs Exposure Suit; Multi-Plaintiff Complaint Says Compound Causes Cancer

ST. LOUIS –– Pharmacia LLC has removed another PCBs exposure lawsuit, again maintaining that the compound was manufactured under the direction of the U.S. government, thus invoking federal jurisdiction.

In the April 18 removal notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the defendant removed the multi-plaintiff lawsuit, the latest in a string of complaints involving the defendant’s polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

The nearly 30 plaintiffs in the underlying suit contended that they developed a variety of illnesses –– including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, malignant melanoma, and breast cancer –– as a result of exposure to PCBs …
