Pharmacia Removes PCBs Lawsuit, Says Compounds Were Made under Direction of U.S. Government

ST. LOUIS –– Defendants named in a PCBs exposure suit have removed the case, saying that the production of the allegedly harmful compound took place under the direction of the U.S. Government.

In the April 13 removal notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the defendants said that Pharmacia worked “in close collaboration with the federal government regarding the production of PCBs for the U.S. military.”

Plaintiff Kathleen R. Olson filed the underlying complaint, contending that she developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, malignant melanoma, or breast cancer as a result of exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) …
