Calif. Court Denies Monsanto’s Motion to Stay Proceedings in Glyphosate Exposure Suit

SAN DIEGO –– A California federal court has denied Monsanto Co.’s motion to stay a glyphosate exposure suit, saying that a stay is not necessary since initial disclosures are scheduled after the answer in the case has been filed.
In the Feb. 8 order, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California further explained that, in this particular district, discovery does not occur until the parties meet and confer as prescribed by Rule 26(f).
“Accordingly, a stay of discovery pending resolution of Defendant’s motion to dismiss is not necessary,” the court concluded.
