Calif. Court of Appeal Denies Petition Challenging Order in Acrylamide Coffee Case

LOS ANGELES –– A California appellate court has denied review of a decision in which a trial court judge found that coffee defendants did not meet their burden of debunking claims that acrylamide in coffee poses a significant risk of cancer.
The petition for writ of mandate was denied by the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, on Jan. 14, sources confirmed to HarrisMartin. The appellate effort was filed by defendants Starbucks Corp., Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., The J.M. Smucker Co., and Kraft Foods Global Inc., in October.
