CLEVELAND –– An Ohio federal jury has awarded $1.6 million at the conclusion of the first C-8 personal injury MDL case to proceed to trial, accepting the plaintiff’s claims that she developed kidney cancer as a result of exposure to the toxin, HarrisMartin Publishing is reporting.
Chief Judge Edmund A. Sargus Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio presided over the 15-day trial. Jurors began deliberations late in the afternoon on Oct. 6 and returned the verdict against E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. on Oct. 7.
