BOSTON –– Plaintiffs in a Massachusetts benzene case have filed a motion to compel discovery responses from Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., arguing that the defendant’s recent actions are “egregious” and warrant sanctions.

In the Sept. 21 motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the plaintiffs maintained that their discovery requests seek information “directly relevant to the claims and defenses in this case.”

Plaintiff Ralph Girardi asserted the claims, contending that his work as an auto mechanic for approximately 40 years required him to work with benzene-containing products, including brake cleaners, carburetor cleaners, parts cleaners, penetrating oils …
