WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –– Defendants have removed a benzene lawsuit to Florida federal court, maintaining that the plaintiffs assert claims that require the interpretation of federal law.

In the Aug. 24 removal notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the defendants said the plaintiffs raised “substantial questions of federal law,” specifically in their allegations that the defendants violated the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s 1983 Hazard Communication Standard and the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.
