NEW ORLEANS –– Benzene plaintiffs whose claims were thrown out on causation grounds have filed a notice of appeal, indicating their intent to challenge the court’s order awarding summary judgment.

The plaintiffs filed the notice of appeal on July 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The appeal follows a June 29 order in which the Louisiana federal court concluded that the plaintiffs had not offered any admissible evidence on general causation and, as such, cannot present evidence on specific causation.
