ExxonMobil and Chalmette Refining: Benzene Plaintiffs Don’t Have Reliable Scientific Evidence to Support Claims

NEW ORLEANS –– ExxonMobil Corp., and Chalmette Refining LLC have filed a motion for summary judgment in a Louisiana benzene case, contending that the plaintiffs have not provided relevant and reliable scientific and medical evidence to establish general and specific causation.
In the June 2 motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the defendants said that the plaintiff had not proven that exposure to benzene and hydrogen sulfide can cause stillbirth.
