Wisconsin Jury Reaches Defense Verdict for Akzo Nobel Paints at Conclusion of Benzene Trial

MILWAUKEE –– A Wisconsin federal jury has reached a defense verdict for Akzo Nobel Paints LLC in a benzene exposure case, finding that the defendant’s paint product was not in such a defective condition that it could be considered unreasonably dangerous.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin entered judgment in favor of the defendant on March 16 and dismissed the case with prejudice.

The underlying claims were brought on behalf of Donald Schultz. Schultz’s work as a painter for American Motors Corp., now known as Chrysler, required him to work with benzene-containing paint products, including ones …
