Sherwin Williams Co. Files Notice of Settlement in Fla. Benzene Case

FT. MYERS, Fla. –– The Sherwin-Williams Co. has filed a notice of settlement in a Florida benzene case, saying that a settlement took place on Dec. 26, 2014.

In the Feb. 17 notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the defendant noted that it did not “participate in any mediation” in the case.

Plaintiff Gaetana Sorvillo alleges that her use of paint removers, wood finishes and other products while working as an antiques refinisher in the 1990s exposed her to benzene. Sorvillo said she developed leukemia as a result of the exposures. She sued …
