Defendants in South Carolina Benzene Action Move for Summary Judgment

COLUMBIA, S.C. –– Several defendants named in a South Carolina benzene action have moved for summary judgment, arguing in part that the plaintiffs lack evidence to establish “one or more essential elements” of their suit.

In Jan. 30 motions filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the Wurth defendants, Acuity Specialty Products, Bel-Ray Co. Inc., Yamaha Motor Corp., Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., and Advance Auto Parts Inc., all sought dismissal of the suit, contending that the plaintiffs did not have evidence that products manufactured by the defendants caused the alleged injuries.
