Discovery Dispute in Benzene Case Resolved; Motion to Compel Rendered Moot by Federal Court

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana federal court has cancelled an oral hearing set to address a discovery response dispute, noting that the issue is now moot.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District Court for Louisiana further dismissed Murphy Exploration & Production Company-USA Inc.’s motion to compel responses to discovery from the plaintiffs, in its June 19 order.
The plaintiffs brought the claims on behalf of Franklin Ronald Jackson Sr., who was allegedly exposed to benzene while working on a number of vessels in the Ocean Drilling and Exploration Company Fleet.
