EAST ST. LOUIS, Mo. –– A benzene plaintiff has moved to remand his wrongful death claims, contending that when removing the lawsuit, Shell Chemical LP and Shell Oil Company ignored the residency of the decedent.

On May 5, the plaintiffs asked the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois to remand the claims, saying that the federal court lacked subject matter jurisdiction.

Joseph Anderson asserted the claims on behalf of Alice J. Anderson, contending that Alice Anderson’s benzene exposure while employed as a truck driver by the Shell defendants caused her to develop acute myelogenous leukemia. She …
